I’m totally secure on Facebook…
Is what I thought until I found out about these added security features… BAM! Prepare to be mind blown…

#1 Facebook Login Approvals
We all know not to give our passwords out, but sometimes after a drunken game of Truth or Dare, passwords are exchanged in good faith. Until it gets into the hands of this friend…
Lesson learned, always pick dare but if you are really stuck on this one there is a way out/ Under the drop down area in the top left hand corner, go to >Settings> Security (the one with the badge icon)> Login Approvals.
If someone ever tries logging into your account from a different browser, Facebook will send a security code to your phone. After entering that code you proceed with logging in with a selected password. Now no one can mess with your profile!
#2 Facebook Trusted Contacts
Under the same security settings as #1, you can select 3 people to back you up in case you get locked out. Do you have over 8 different passwords and forget each one every time you clear your cookies? 1Password is a great solution but more on that on a later post! Trusted Contact will help you regain access to your account. Each contact will get a security code for you with instructions on how to help you. Once you get the security codes from your trusted contacts, you can enter them into Facebook to recover your account. Just remember to give them a heads up before they get a random text from Facebook.
#3 Facebook Legacy Contact
This is one reminds me of this gem of a movie
But I really I hope no one has to use it…
What happens to your Facebook account after you pass away? Your loved ones can fill a Memorialization Request and you can request one friend to continue your social media legacy. Under your security settings, select ‘Legacy Contact‘ and select the chosen one. After you have selected your person there is an option to send them a message that includes a link on what to do. Facebook also advises you talk in person, good call Facebook.
You can also request to have your account permanently deleted if you don’t want anyone to carry on your legacy.
